New Ford KA+ spied undisguised in India
The new European spec Ford KA+ has been spied undisguised on the road in India, suggesting the KA+ is close to arriving and being built in India.
When we learnt that production of the current Ford Ka was coming to an end, we suggested the new KA would arrive last summer. But it didn’t.But fast forward to April 2016, and we finally got confirmation from Ford that the new KA for Europe will arrive this year, and that it will be the Ford KA+.
Now it looks like those plans are well underway, with our friends at Indian Autos Blog sending us over photos one of their readers snapped of the new KA+ undisguised on the road in India (photo above, more on the IAB link) complete with ‘KA+’ badge.
The new KA+ sits on the current Fiesta platform (the current Fiesta is due to be replaced next year) and will come with a five-door bodyshell, an interior and suspension tailored to European expectations, engines sourced from the less-powerful Fiestas, and be very keenly priced – we expect prices to start from around £8,000 and not stretch much past £10,000.
The spotting of this undisguised KA+ on Indian roads also suggests Ford are planning to keep costs in check by building the new KA+ at their new plant in Sanand for export to European markets.
We’re expecting the first official details on the new Ford KA+ before long, although a public debut seems most likely at the Paris Motor Show in September.
