2016 Ford Ka finally arriving at the Geneva Motor Show?
It looks like Ford is going to reveal the all new Ford Ka at the Geneva Motor Show in March, finally revealing Europe’s new Ka.
Ford in the UK and Europe has been very slow of late to bring their newest cars to market, with the current Mondeo arriving long after it was available in other markets, and the long-awaited replacement for the Fiat 500-based Ka still not here, despite a concept in 2013.Not only was the concept for the new Ka revealed in 2013, it’s already on sale in Brazil and India (as the Figo), and we had expected it to arrive in 2015 at the latest.
But now we hear that production of the current Ka is to end in Poland in April, which suggests Ford is finally ready to reveal the production version of the new Ka, and the 2016 Geneva Motor Show seems the most likely location.
As far as we can tell, the production version of the new Ka will be very like the concept we saw in 2013 (photo above), and it will be very much a Ford, rather than a re-worked Fiat.
That means a platform based on the Fiesta – which is a very good starting point – design that looks ‘Ford’ (although the concept looked derivative and generic to us) and engines including Ford’s latest 1.5 litre diesel and 1.0 litre three-cylinder petrol.
With the Geneva Motor Show just a month away, we’re expecting confirmation soon from Ford that the new Ka will debut, and go on sale in the summer.
