The new Ford Mustang effectively went on sale in Europe at the UEFA Champions League final at the weekend, and it was an overwhelming success for Ford.
It looks like Ford has massively underestimated demand for the Mustang – the first time the iconic American Muscle Car has been made available across Europe, and in RHD for the UK – and you have to wonder if they’d do better in Europe sticking a Mustang badge on their premium cars instead of Vignale.
For Marketing VP, Roelant de Waard, said:
We knew there was huge excitement building for the new Ford Mustang coming to Europe, but the response during the UCL Final was overwhelming.
It was a truly special way to kick off the Ford Mustang era in Europe.
The lucky winners will get the choice of either a Race Red Fastback or Magnetic Silver Convertible Mustang with a special package and a choice of either the 2.3 litre EcoBoost or 5.0 litre V8 (Ford aren’t saying which engine was in demand – we’re guessing the V8).
But even though the winners in them pre-sale lottery will be the firtst to get their cars, they still won’t be arriving until 2015.
