New Jeep Wrangler UK Price and Specs announced

The new Jeep Wrangler official goes on sale in the UK this weekend, with prices starting for Jeep’s rugged new off-roader at £44,495.

The Land Rover Defender may be no more – and even when it returns it won’t be what it was – but there is still a proper old school SUV you can buy, and you can now buy it in an all-new version.

The new Jeep Wrangler debuted more than a year ago in the US, but it’s finally going on sale in the UK this weekend (13 October) with prices starting from £44,495 for the Wrangler Sahara 2.2 MultiJet II 200hp 4×4 Automatic 8-Speed 2-Door version.

The new Wrangler comes with new styling, a better interior, new engines, new Uconnect 8.4″ Infotainment and much more safety stuff, and although it won’t drive like a modern soft-roader, it’s undoubtedly the most ‘real’ SUV you can buy.

The two new engines are the 2.2-litre MultiJet II turbo diesel and 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol, with the diesel offering 200bhp and 332lb/ft of torque, and the petrol 272bhp and 295lb/ft of torque.

There are seemingly umpteen options for opening the Wrangler up to the skies, folding windscreen, removable doors, a choice of ten different colours and enough in the way of rufty-tufty to keep any buyer happy.

That also includes, depending on which model and spec you choose, four-wheel drive Command Trac or Rock-Trac, plus locking axles, limited slip diff and front anti-roll bar disconnect.

Available in Sahara, Overland and Rubicon guises, the new Jeep Wrangler can be ordered at Jeep’s UK dealers from Saturday
