New Kia Cee’d & Procee’d GT Turbo Geneva 2013 debut

Kia will launch the Cee’d & Pro_cee’d GT at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show with a 200bhp Turbo engine and cosmetic tweaks.

With the cars of Kia (and sister company, Hyundai) becoming ever more convincing with every passing year, the time had to come when the Koreans figured it was right to take on the hot hatch market. It looks like that time is nigh.

We’ve already revealed that Hyundai are planning a turbo version of the i30 3-door (perhaps the Hyundai i30 R?) and Kia are following suit to with go-faster versions of the new Cee’d, new Pro_cee’d and, it appears, even the new Cee’d Sportswagon.

The plan is to kick of with the launch of the Cee’d GT and Pro_cee’d GT at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, with every possibility Kia will also launch a Cee’d Sportswagon GT later in 2013.

As with the i30 R, the usual recipe for a hot hatch will apply. Under the bonnet will be the 1.6 litre Turbo we already see in the Veloster Turbo with up to 200bhp, butch bumpers front and back, go-faster bodykit, tweaked suspension and brakes and a set of big alloys.

It also seems Kia are likely to offer the GT Turbo versions in a range of go-faster colours (think orange, green, white) and give the interior a makeover with Recaro seats and red contrast stitching on the leather.

All of which means it’s highly likely Hyundai will follow suit not just with the 3-door i30 R, but with a 5-door i30 R and an i30 Tourer R too.

As if Europe’s mainstream makers didn’t have enough problems.
