New Mercedes-AMG A 45 Spied on video
The new Mercedes-AMG A 45 is on the way for 2019 to join the A 35 in the new A Class range, and it’s caught testing at the Nurburgring on video.
We’ve got the new Mercedes A Class Hatch, we’ve got the new A Class Saloon and we’ve got the new Mercedes-AMG A 35. And on the way is the new Mercedes-AMG A 45.The new Mercedes-AMG A 35 is just the appetiser for the new A-Class AMG models, with a more potent A 45 on the way – and an A 45 S model too – ahead of which Mercedes is doing what you’d expect by chucking the new AMG A 45 round the Nurburgring to sort it.
Caught on video on the way to the Nurburgring, and on track, the A 45 in this video may have the Mercedes 4WD under the bonnet and a new 2.0 litre forced induction petrol engine with, probably, 400bhp plus, but it seems to be shorn of addenda.
There does seem to be a Panamerica grille hiding at the front, and there are quad exhausts too, but the spoilers seem minimal and the body kit almost subtle, although it does look like the flanks have grown.
As well as the much more powerful new 2.0 litre turbo, the new 4MATIC four-wheel drive will come with a drift mode and get an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the MBUX will offer a plethora of performance logging functions, and there’s the promise that the new A 45 will be more comfortable and more dynamic – and a lot quicker – than the previous model.
Expect the production version of the new Mercedes-AMG A 45 to arrive early in 2019.
