New Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 REVEALED
The Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 and GLE 63 S revealed in Lost Angeles, complete with up to 603bhp and a dose of Mild Hybrid EQ Boost.
It looks like it’s going to be a day of mad performance SUVs, with the new Audi RS Q8 revealed and now the first of two new reveals from Mercedes – the Mercedes GLE 63 and GLE 63 S.Just for reference, the new GLE 63 gets AMG’s 4.0 litre twin-turbo V8 with mild hybrid EQ Boost to deliver up to 563bhp when you need it. But it won’t be coming to the UK.
What we’ll get is the new Mercedes GLE 63 S, which uses the same 4.0 litre V8 engine but with a more fulsome 603bhp, which translates in to a 0-62mph of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 174mph if you shell out for the AMG Driver’s Package.
The arrival of the mild hybrid EQ Boost system, as well as regen and cylinder shut-off, gives the 63 official economy of around 24.5mpg, not that you’ll get close to that in the real world.
Standard kit include adaptive dampers and AMG Ride Control+, 48v active roll stabilisation, electronic locking diff at the back, big brakes, pneumatic self-levelling and seven dynamic select drive modes.
As you’d expect, the GLE 63 S gets the usual AMG titivations including grille and front apron, side skirts, wheelarches, rear bumper diffuser and twin black chrome tailpipes, whilst inside there’s AMG Nappa leather, AMG instruments and AMG badges.
The new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S will go on sale in the New Year.
