New Toyota SUPRA confirmed for Goodwood FoS
The new Toyota Supra – Toyota’s joint project with BMW’s new Z4 – will be on show at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The new Toyota Supra is the Toyota take on the new BMW Z4, and although the new Z4 is confirmed for a debut at Pebble Beach soon, we don’t have a confirmed date for the debut of the new Supra. But it will be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week. Before you get too excited, this won’t be a big world debut for the Supra, but Toyota are taking a camouflaged Supra to Goodwood and it looks like it will be in action too – the first time it will have been seen on the move.
Although the Supra and new Z4 have been jointly developed – and look to share the same architecture, engine and gearbox – there will be differences.
The main one seems to be that Toyota will use the expected 335bhp turbo straight six to deliver a focussed sports car, rather than the ‘softer’ convertible BMW seem to be planning, and that will be taken a step further with a GRMN take on the Supra at some point too.
We might start to get more detail from Toyota now they’re coming out in to the open at Goodwood, but it’s still expected to be early 2019 before the new Supra actually gets a production guise debut, and later in 2019 before it goes on sale.
