New VOLVO XC40 Concept teased ahead of reveal next week
The new Volvo XC40 Compact SUV is teased as a concept ahead of a debut next week, with Volvo using SnapChat to say it’s “Not your daddy’s Volvo”.
It looks like the new Volvo XC40 – Volvo’s new compact SUV, underpinned by their new CMA Platform – is on the way after Volvo teased a debut next week with a teaser photo (above).Unusually, Volvo used Snapchat to tease the new car, along with the caption “Not your daddy’s Volvo”, which is as clear an indication as you can get that Volvo see the new XC40 as a car aimed very much at younger buyers.
From what we can see, the XC40 looks to have inherited a chunk of its design cues from the very successful XC90, with an upright, clean-design front with headlights incorporating the Thor Hammer running lights.
But it’s not going to be just the concept take on the new XC40 which will debut in Gothenburg next week, it looks like Volvo will also reveal its hatchback sibling, with a first look at the new generation V40 too.
A reveal next week – assuming the reveals are concept takes on the XC40 and V40 – could mean we will see the new Volvo XC40 in production guise arriving earlier than we expected – perhaps at the Paris Motor Show in October – and going on sale in early 2017, followed by the new V40 Hatch – and probably S40 saloon too.
The arrival of the new XC40 will undoubtedly see Volvo’s sales growing even more strongly than they already are, and although we can see Volvo’s new baby SUV appealing to a younger demographic, we’d have thought it would have huge appeal for older buyers too with a down-sized take on all the XC90 delivers.
More next week when Volvo pulls the wraps off their new cars in Gothenburg.
