Peugeot 208 takes on Wacky Races in a new advert

The new Peugeot 208 takes on the Wacky Races crew – from Dick Dastardly and Muttley to Penelope Pitstop – in a new advert for the 208 from Brazil.

If you’re of a certain age, you’ll remember Wacky Races. In particular, if you’re anything like those in the office here who are old enough, Penelope Pitstop and Dick Dastardly and Muttley.

Interestingly, Peugeot in Brazil has decided to bring what looks like the entire Wacky Races mob to life in a new advert to promote the Peugeot 208.

So we get the entire Wacky races mob up to their usual mad stunts doing everything in their power to take out the new 208. They don’t succeed (or what would be the point of the advert?) but they do try their best.

The promo ends with the 208 driver getting the girl – in this case a real-life version of Penelope Pitstop – throwing Muttley out of the back and driving off towards the horizon.

It’s a bit of daft fun to promote the 208, but we must assume Wacky Races is still a big deal in Brazil. Because if it’s not, the only people old enough to remember aren’t exactly Peugeot’s target demographic for the 208.

But for those who remember, we’ll leave you with Muttley’s verdict on the Peugeot 208:

“Rashin’ fashin’ 208”. Followed by a wheezy snicker.
