Peugeot has been working on the somewhat odd little 3008 for a while, and spy shots have been popping up all over the place. But ahead of its launch at the Geneva Motor Show, the first official images have surfaced.
The Peugeot 3008 is, according to Peugeot, a cross between an SUV, MPV and a hatchback. Really? If that’s the market it’s going for then I suppose it’s after the likes of the Nissan Qashqai and Volkswagen Tiguan, but it doesn’t look like it fits.
Peugeot are making great play of its non-conformist approach (which was always Citroen’s selling point!), but to my eye it just looks a bit odd.
Supposedly, it gives a great driving experience coupled with a high driving position and eco-friendly credentials. Lots of electronic ‘Stuff’ including Dynamic Roll Control and Grip Control, are fitted to the 3008, which makes me wonder whether these are icing or necessities!
The ad-speak from Peugeot says:
Through its non-conformist approach and its resolute styling, the 3008, designed as a pioneering vehicle, offers an original solution and optimal versatility to customers in search of modernity, practicality and driving pleasure.
Protective, versatile and status-enhancing, the Peugeot 3008, a crossover in all respects, opens up new motoring horizons.
Still, I’m all for innovation, and this could well be a terrific package. We’ll just have to wait for Peugeot to send us one over to decide.
