Porsche 911 Speedster Concept
The Porsche 911 Speedster Concept has been revealed as a GT3 with a Speedster body based on the Carrera 4 Cabriolet. Expect limited production as a 991 swansong.
The Porsche 911 Speedster Concept is supposed to be just a concept, but it almost certainly previews a limited production run as a swansong for the current 991 911.Built to celebrate 70 years of Porsche, the Speedster get a body based on the 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet – although with a press-stud tonneau roof more suited to Los Angeles than London – and is effectively a GT3 Cabriolet.
Celebrating 70 years of Porsche Sports Cars, the 911 Speedster gets a 4.0 litre six-cylinder engine with “over 500bhp” ands six-speed manual gearbox, Fuchs alloys, short raked windscreen, stubby side windows and, of course, a carbon fibre double-bubble rear cover.
Inside you get carbon fibre bucket seats and leather, but you’ll have to make do without Sat Nav, and sort of sound system and even Air Con.
Nods to Porsche history include a centre fuel filler, ‘Talbot’ mirrors, ‘taped’ headlights, silver white paint job and low fly line, influenced by the original 356 1500 Speedster which started the Speedster lineage.
Porsche say they haven’t decided whether to make the 911 Speedster in to a proper limited run model. But don’t believe a word of it; expect its arrival later in 2018 at prices heading for £200k.
