Yes, we’ve banged on about how long the Porsche Panamera has been ‘Coming’ and moaned about all the drips and drabs of information we’ve had. But a few weeks ago we had the Porsche Panamera UK Prices and the news that the Panamera will go on sale in Europe and the UK on 12th September, and all that was left was the official reveal. Well, with the Shanghai Motor Show starting tomorrow (April 20th), and Porsche eager to strut its stuff on an emerging market stage, the Porsche Panamera has now been officially unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show.
As we’ve said before, the Panamera is not the most stunning looking of cars, and is left in the wake of the Aston Martin Rapide in the style department. But it would seem to us that Porsche is going to have another Cayenne-like success on its hands with the Panamera. As with the Cayenne, its looks are criticised, but it does everything else so remarkably well, and has the kudos of the Porsche badge, and it’s hard to see how it will fail.
Initial engines are all V8s (two normally aspirated -2WD and 4WD versions – plus the turbo) but other versions will toddle along behind to swell that niche that the Panamera could easily dominate. Look out for a diesel version and also a hybrid version before too long.
We’ve probably written all there is to write on the Panamera until we get our hands on one, so you can find all the other information on previous articles (see the related posts list at the bottom).
But we’ve added some new driving footage here that Porsche has released to mark the official launch.

I sort of expected the Panamera to be a stretched 911 but looking at the picture its a lot bigger than I thought. Still not pretty though but I suppose it will grow on me.
