The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo – a Shooting Brake take on the new Panamera – will definitely debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March.
The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo debuted as a concept as far back as 2012, and it made the Panamera look properly appealing for the first time.It also previewed some of the cosmetic change Porsche wrought when it updated the Panamera last year, and we fully expected it to arrive at the same time. But it didn’t.
But going on the missing list at last year’s Paris Motor Show made a debut for the Sport Turismo at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and Porsche man Stefan Utsch has officially confirmed to CAR that a five-door Shooting Brake Panamera will debut at Geneva.
Clearly, more than four years on, there will be changes to the Sport Turismo Concept (and that may include the name) but in all the ways that matter the new Panamera Shooting Brake will deliver as the most visually appealing and practical Panamera to date.
Expect the engine options – including a plug-in hybrid – to carry over from the Panamera, but it doesn’t seem likely there will be a long wheelbase Executive Sport Turismo.
We already know Porsche will be selling the Sport Turismo in the USA – an interesting move in a market which doesn’t really get posh ‘wagons’ – as well as in Europe, and it’s expected to go on sale shortly after its arrival at Geneva.
