Range Rover Long Wheelbase revealed & new Range Rover LWB Autobiography Black too

Land Rover has revealed the new Range Rover Long Wheelbase and added a new range-topping version too – the Range Rover LWB Autobiography Black.

It was always a give – especially with demand for luxury cars better able to offer an expansive rear cabin in China – that Land Rover would stretch the Range Rover to create a long wheelbase Range Rover. And here it is.

Land Rover has given the new Range Rover an extra 140mm of rear leg room to make it a properly spacious VIP transporter, and seem to have done so without spoiling the Range Rover’s proportions; extended rear doors manage to look like they belong.

Inside, the LWB Rangie comes with either the individual ‘Executive’ two-seat arrangement or the normal bench, and gets seats that recline more than normal (an extra 8 degrees), the rear passengers get to control the front passenger seat for more rear room too and there’s a set of blinds on the side windows.

As well as regular Autobiography trim, Land Rover has also revealed an Autobiography ‘Plus’ trim with the new Autobiography Black version of the LWB Range Rover.

Aimed at the very top end of any competition, the Autobiography Black gets some subtle exterior tweaks like titivated grill, badges and alloys, but the bulk of the gloss is kept for the interior, with TV screens in the back, chiller compartment, special leathers, massage rear seats, LED mood lighting, extended centre console and electric leather-topped tray tables in the back.

The new Range Rover LWB Autobiography Black will be debuted at the Dubai motor show in early November and the regular LWB Autobiography at the LA Auto Show on 20th and Guangzhou on the 21st November.

First customer LWB Range Rovers are expected to arrive in March 2014 and, although prices haven’t been revealed yet, we’d expect to see the LWB starting at £135,000 – or more.
