Renault’s new ALPINE Plant opens
Renault has opened its new plant to build the Alpine A110 in Dieppe, and confirmed seven new Alpine dealer for the UK opening in mid-2018.
Renault’s revival of the Alpine sports car brand is starting to become properly real as they open a new production plant in Dieppe to build up to 6,000 Alpine cars a year.First shown earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show, Renault kicks off production with a Premier edition A110 which costs around £50,000.
Renault actually put the A110 Premier Edition on sale before they’d revealed the car or its name (at that time we thought it would be the Alpine A120), with 1,955 being built (1955 is the year Alpine was founded), and they sold in quick sticks. Which augers well for the planned 6,000 annual production.
The Renault take on the Alfa 4C – and potential competition for the Porsche Cayman – comes with a 1.8 litre turbo delivering 248bhp and, thanks to its low weight, the promise of 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds.
On the back of proper production in Dieppe for the A110, Renault has also announced the Alpine Network for the UK.
Starting with a new Studio Alpine London – operated by Renault Retail Group London West – which will open in Q2 2018, a further six Alpine outlets in Glasgow, Manchester, Orpington, Solihull, St Albans and Winchester will open in 2018.
Vincent Tourette, Renault’s UK MD, said:
The announcement of the Alpine Sales Network comes as the brand enters the UK market with the beautiful A110. Customers who reserved the Première Edition versions of the new model will be the first to collect their cars from the Alpine Centres.
The interest we’ve received since the A110 was first unveiled is extremely inspiring for the future of the brand and we look forward to welcoming visitors to the Alpine Centres in 2018.
Alpine does have an online reservation option for the A110, but you’ll need to download an App to do it.
