Subaru Levorg GT (that’s a Levorg Estate) heading for the UK
The Subaru Levorg GT – the name Subaru has chosen for the Levorg Sport Tourer – arrives in the UK in September with a 168bhp turbo Boxer engine.
Subaru is finally getting round to bringing what is effectively a replacement for the Legacy Tourer in the guise of the Levorg GT, a production version of the Levorg Concept from 2013, although the UK looks to be a bit short changed on the engine front with just a Hobson’s choice. That Hobson’s choice is a 1.6 litre petrol Boxer engine which is good for 168bhp, and it is unfortunately mated to Subaru’s six-speed Lineartronic CVT gearbox. Neither of which will necessarily endear it to UK buyers, although the firm’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive as standard will.
In fact, although we don’t expect Subaru to offer the Levorg with the more powerful 2.0 litre turbo it gets in some markets, it would be daft not to fit it with the 2.0 litre Boxer diesel from the Outback, and offer the option of the same car’s manual gearbox.
Subaru themselves see the Levorg as the successor to the Legacy, and although it is a bit smaller it does seem to offer more space inside. Which is a distinct plus, as is the promise that the Levorg will be the most refined Subaru yet, with premium materials, bespoke sports seats and the latest infotainment in its cabin.
There are no prices yet for the Levorg GT yet – but if you think £24-26k you won’t be far out – but Subaru should have found their abacus by the time the Levorg starts to arrive in the UK in September.
