The Lexus CT 200h F Sport ‘SHOE’ arrives
The Lexus CT 200h F Sport ‘Shoe’ is a specially wrapped Lexus CT to celebrate a new sports trainer from premium UK manufacturer Walsh.
Not necessarily the sort of co-operation you’d expect from Toyota’s ‘Premium’ brand, Walsh is not a name which trips off the tongue for most, although they’re a successful premium shoe maker in Bolton, established in 1961 by Norman Walsh – the man who made Roger Bannister’s shoes when he broke the four-minute mile – and have been busy in recent years collaborating with some of the UK’s leading fashion designers.
Walsh has made their new trainer from upholstery leather to recreate the feel of the Lexus cabin, and there’s a Lexus tag on one of the shoes too.
Jason Crompton, Walsh’s Head of Design, said:
Here we had a small, hand-made shoe business working together with an automotive giant, yet there was a nice duality between our shared approach to craftsmanship and luxury detail. This made it a rewarding project for us to work on and we are very pleased with the results, which draw directly on the inspiration provided by the Lexus CT F Sport.
Lexus no doubt hope that tying up with a trendy shoemaker will appeal to a younger demographic, just where the CT and new Lexus UX need to be garnering interest.
