The Volvo XC40 grabs another ‘Car of the Year’ ward
The Volvo XC40 continues to garner awards, and the latest is the Honest John 2019 Car of the Year award, as well as best Premium Crossover.
There’s little doubt that Volvo has a hit on its hands with the XC40, a smallish Premium SUV which offers the most appealing blend of abilities and a real antidote to the Teutonic take on what makes a perfect premium SUV.Even in relatively lowly T3 Momentum Pro spec we found it appealing and able, with good looks – especially the cabin – in a very well executed package. It was hard to find fault.
And we’re far from the only ones to find the XC40 very appealing, with the industry showering the XC40 with awards, from Japan Car of the Year to European Car of the Year, and now it can add the Honest John car of the Year to its trophy cabinet.
Honest John claim their awards are more relevant than other because it’s readers who make the decisions, and it is they that have declared the XC40 Car of the Year. So punters as well as pros think the XC40 is a cracking car. Who knew?
Other Honest John winners include no huge surprises, with wins like the Mercedes C-Class as best Compact Premium, Porsche Panamera as Luxury Car, Kia Sportage as the Crossover, BMW 4 Series as Convertible and more.
Interestingly, there was also an award for ‘Real MPG’, won by the Suzuki Swift 1.0 Boostjet which Honest John’s readers declared had averaged 67.4mpg – 102.9 per cent of its official economy figures.
