Top Gear Series 27 – with Flintoff and McGuinness – first video trailer
With Matt LeBlanc leaving Top Gear, the next series will feature Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness. And the first trailer for series 27 is already here.
Sunday night’s episode of Top Gear – Series 26, Episode 5 – was the last series to star what has become a perfectly good presenter lineup of Matt LeBlanc, Chris Harris and Rory Reid.
But Matt LeBlanc has decided that even though Top Gear is fun, it takes up too much time. So he’s decided to hang up his Top Gear driving gloves to spend more time on his ranch and with his family.
That means yet another presenter re-boot for Top Gear, and a presenter re-boot which will see Top Gear perhaps becoming quintessentially English once again, with Rory Reid sidelined to Top Gear extra and Chris Harris joined by ex-professional cricketer Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff and comedian and presenter Paddy McGuinness.
What viewers outside the UK will make of Flintoff and McGuinness only time will tell, but they’re familiar enough in the UK to stand a chance and, if the on-screen chemistry between the three works, Top Gear could be good, Daft, no doubt, but if the daftness is kept in check it could be a good shout.
It could be a year before Series 27 arrives (although probably not), but that hasn’t stopped Top Gear delivering the firts video trailer of Flintoff, McGuinness and Harris fronting Top Gear, with the three of them rallying in a Jaguar Hearse, with Flintoff tipping it over.
A sign of what’s to come, no doubt.
