Volvo 360c TEASED
A tease captioned ‘Volvo 360c’ has been posted by Volvo on their Facebook page. But what is the Volvo 360c tease for?
Update 28/8.2018: Volvo has now delivered another tease for the 360c, and it does look like it’s a concept car of some description.
The new video (you can see it below) shows the front of a Volvo car with a line of white lights running across the front, followed by a rear three quarter view of the 360c with fins and red lights.
It is starting to look like our guess that the 360c is an actual car is about right, but it’s probably a future concept with autonomous ability and an electric powertrain rather than a preview of a new Volvo 360c anytime soon. This could run and run.
Car makers love a tease, and we usually have a pretty good idea what’s being teased, be it a new model or concept, future technology or whatever. But Volvo has us stumped.
Volvo has posted a very short video (below) on their Facebook page showing just a sound bar as a single tone plays. Volvo say it’s “the sound of your future ride”. Whatever that means.
Could it be the sound Volvo intends to play whenever you switch your Volvo in to autonomous mode? Could it be the sound you’ll hear when you press the ‘start’ button on an electric Volvo? Who knows.
Volvo has responded to some of the comments on the brief video, and they seem to be pointing towards a hint at electrification or autonomy. But they’re giving nothing away.
Although it seems this all points to EVs and autonomy, could it be a bit more than that? Could the ‘360c’ point at a new Volvo instead?
The ‘360’ moniker has been used by Volvo before on a less than impressive hatch, so could it be Volvo are planning an electric coupe (”c’ for coupe?) as their first electric car, rather than, as we expect, an electric XC40?
Maybe it’s the Volvo 360c EV on the way. Or maybe it’s not.
