Volvo has released UK model and price detail for the Volvo V60 Estate / Sport wagon. Prices start at £23,145 for the T3, rising to £37,895 for the T6.
The Volvo V60 was revealed back in July and is the Estate version of Volvo’s S60, although Volvo would be much happier if we called it a Sport wagon. Still, whatever we call it, the V60 is now ready to roll.
So now you can toddle off to your local Volvo dealers and put down an order for the V60 (with a reasonable expectation you’ll see your car turn up by December), what are the choices?
There’s a choice of four trim levels and six engines – two diesel and four petrol – on offer at launch and you will, except on the D3, be paying £1,150 more for your V60 than you would for a C60. Which doesn’t seem too bad a deal.
Trim levels options are ES, SE, SE Lux and R-Design. Equipment levels are more than half decent, with even the entry-level ES getting Climate, Cruise, 16″ alloys, infotainment with colour screen and multi-function steering wheel. Move up to the SE and you can add T-Tec upholstery, power-fold mirrors, auto wipers, Bluetooth, Park Assist and 17″ alloys. The SE Lux adds power seats, leather trim, auto lights and washers.
To confuse the issue you can also add a ‘Premium’ pack to the SE, SE Lux and R-Design which throws in leather, SatNav, DAB and multimedia.
Diesel options are the 2.0 litre D3 with 161bhp, 51.4 mpg and 144g/km CO2. The more powerful 2.4 litre D5 manages to deliver 202bhp with 52.3mpg and 142g/km CO2, which makes it more powerful, more economical and less polluting than the smaller engined D3. It will also get to 62mph in 7.5 seconds.
Petrol engines kick off with the 148bhp 1.6 litre T3. The T3 will deliver 42.2 mpg and 156g/km CO2. It also benefits from stop/start. The T4 is also a 1.6 litre with 178bhp, 42.2mpg and 156g/km CO2. The 2.0 litre, 237bhp T5 deliver 34.9 mpg and 189g/km.
Top of the heap comes the V60 T6 with its 300bhp 3.0 litre which will scoot the Volvo Estate Sport Wagon to 60mph in under 6 seconds and manage 28.5mpg. Frankly, we’d pick either this or the D5.
And let’s not forget that you can have a Volvo V60 R-Design pack effectively bolted on to any engine option you choose. So you don’t have to order up the T6 to get the bling, you can grab a T3 and make it look as butch.
Just as long as you don’t mind your V60 being all show and no go.
