2017 Volvo V90 Cross Country – lurking under cover
The Volvo V90 Cross Country – a high-riding V90 Estate, and successor to the Volvo XC70 – is teased once again as its official reveal gets closer.
We’ve already had a small tease for the Volvo V90 Cross Country – the last of Volvo’s 90 Series cars to arrive – last week, with a video paying homage to its successor – the Volvo XC70 – and a brief glimpse of the front of the new V90 CC.Unsurprisingly, Volvo want to extract the maximum mileage out of a new model – which will get its public debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of the month – so we now have the first image of the new V90 Cross Country parked on rough terrain by a lake, no doubt to demonstrate it’s properly rufty-tufty.
The trouble is, the V90 CC is under a semi-transparent cover, so although it’s clear what it is, there’s little detail to go on.
But what is clear is that the V90 body is pretty much intact, so you can expect it to look as you’d have thought it would, with a V90 body with plastic cladding on the side, bigger bumpers with skid plates, a new grille and an increased ride height.
It also seems, despite our doubts it would be the case, that Volvo are being protective of the Cross Country as successor to the XC70, and won’t be delivering it as a front-wheel drive D4, but only as a 4WD D5 or T8 Twin Engine.
We’ll know for certain in a few days.
