Volvo XC40 T5 R-Design costs £520 a month in US with ‘Care by Volvo’

The new Care by Volvo option to get in to a new Volvo with all costs included is £520 a month (plus tax) for the XC40 T5 R-Design in the USA.

With the new Volvo XC40 Compact SUV now in production, Volvo is starting to give more details on the ‘Care by Volvo’ offerings, which will allow you to have a new XC40 in the same way you would a mobile phone.

For a fixed monthly fee you get everything – including insurance – and you simply use the car before handing it back for a new model or upgrade when it suits.

We don’t have any real detail on the UK offerings yet, but in the US Volvo has now outlined the offering and what’s included.

The Care by Volvo XC40 offerings at the moment on the other side of the Pond are the T4 Momentum and T5 R-Design, with the T4 Momentum costing £445 a month and the T5 R-Design around £520.

They are straight conversions from the Dollar prices (which are $600 and $700 respectively) and you’d need to add VAT assuming Volvo prices broadly the same in the UK. Which makes it £535 and £625.

For that you get a two year subscription (and you can change after 12 months) including Volvo Concierge 24/7, all maintenance including wear items, full insurance and up to 15,000 miles a year included.

Over £600 a month for the T5 R-Design sounds quite a lot, but when you start to break it down it does seem to represent pretty good, hassle-free, value for money.
