Volvo XC60 wins SUV of the Year in the US
The new Volvo XC60 has been voted the best SUV in the USA (2018 North American Utility of the Year) just as the XC90 did in 2015.
In many ways, certainly until quite recently, North America was home to the SUV, and big, American SUVs ruled the roost. But the American SUV buyer has become more sophisticated and demanding, and European SUVs, certainly those from ‘Premium’ car makers, have made a real impact.
Nothing illustrates that better than the Volvo XC90 winning the 2015 SUV of the Year Award at the North American Car, Utility and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) awards, and now the new XC60 has done the same.
Following on from being declared the safest car of 2017 by Euro NCAP – and Japanese Car of the Year – the XC60 is now the 2018 North American Utility of the Year.
Mark Phelan, President of the NACTOY, said:
The Volvo XC60 raises the bar for safety and driver assistance systems in compact utility vehicles, and does it in a package that exudes Scandinavian design.
The XC90 has been quite a hit in the US, and the XC60 looks set to do the same, helping Volvo continue its growth in the US.
