Jaguar R Performance Academy Launched
Jaguar has announced the launch of the Jaguar R Performance Academy in the US to teach high-end driving skills to owners of performance Jaguars.
With Jaguar going from strength to strength with its performance models (like the Jaguar XFR) they obviously feel it’s not just good PR but good sense to get owners as au fait with their new high performance Jaguars as possible. So they’ve launched the R Performance Academy in the US to get Jaguar high performance car owners up to speed (pun intended) with what their new toy can really do.
Jaguar are kicking off with a day at the Miami Speedway circuit, which is 2.2 miles long and offers 14 turns and is a challenge for even the most experienced track drivers. Owners will get the chance to master maximum acceleration and braking; there’s an autocross challenge and instruction on mastering their car with the electro-nannies turned off.
The whole Jaguar R Performance Academy training day is set to become a quarterly event with the Monticello Motor Club in New York (where Jaguar’s US PR dropped a clanger with the CTS-V Challenge), the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the Auto Club Speedway in Montana CA also pencilled in for the events.
Unfortunately the plans Jaguar had for a similar scheme in the UK are on the back burner for the moment. We asked Jaguar whether the plans they had earlier in the year for a UK Performance Academy – and even a ‘Jaguar World’ – were still in play. They told us that they won’t rule out the approach taken in the US but there are no concrete plans for the UK at the moment.
Maybe we’re just better drivers?!
