2014 Skoda Yeti Facelift - now comes as Town or Country

The Skoda Yeti has had a facelift for 2014 – which will debut at Frankfurt 2013 next month – and will now be offered in Town and Country versions.

The Skoda Yeti has been a big success for Skoda – and rightly so, it’s very able and decently priced – but it’s been around for a while and is ready for a facelift.

So Skoda has done the usual facelift tweaks for the Yeti – which will be revealed in public at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show – with new grill and lights at the front, titivated tailgate and lights at the back, some new colour options – Moon-White, Jungle-Green, Metal-Grey and Magnetic-Brown – and new alloys.

Inside the tweaks are even less obvious with titivations for the steering wheel, dashboard trim and upholstery and the arrival of a rear view camera and automatic parking the main highlights.

But the big news for the Yeti is that it’s now going top be available in two versions – one aimed at those who want to use it as an urban warrior and the other for those who are happy to get stuck in to something a bit muddier.

We can’t actually work out from Skoda’s cumbersome press release what they intend calling these two variants of the Yeti, so we’ll go for the obvious and call then Yeti Town and Yeti Country.

The difference between the two is essentially that the Yeti Country has black cladding for the bumpers, side mouldings, sills and skid plates for added butchness, but the Yeti Town comes with all the black plastic bits colour coded to make it a bit more elegant.

The range range of seven petrol and diesel engines remains the same, but more combinations are available of trim, engine and gearbox than before – just to confuse buyers even more – with GreenLine version, Green tec engine variants, manual six-speed, seven-speed DSG, 4WD and FWD. A bewildering range of combinations, and we doubt any two Yetis will come out of a Skoda showroom the same.
