The 2016 Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet has been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, including a go-faster AMG C43 Cab. On sale UK late summer.
The drop-top take on the new C-Class Coupe – the 2016 Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet – arrives at the Geneva Motor Show, complete with a range of petrol and diesel options, a canvas folding roof and a swift AMG C43 version from the start. In all the ways that matter, the Cabriolet is the Coupe without a roof, which means a good looking car – inside and out – whose styling hasn’t been compromised by taking off the roof.
In fact, particularly top-down, the Cabriolet looks elegant, and the canvas roof opens and closes in 20 seconds and comes in a choice of black, brown, blue and red.
There’s also a range-topping (for now) AMG C43 on offer, complete with the same 362bhp 3.0 litre V6 turbo as the Coupe, good for 62mph in 4.8 seconds, 4MATIC four-wheel drive, body kit and interior tweaks.
More prosaic C-Class Cabriolets can be had with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, including the 154bhp C180, 182bhp C200, 208bhp C250, 243bhp C300 and 330bhp C400, with diesel options of the 168bhp C220d and 201bhp C250d.
The entire Cab range gets the option of Mercedes nine-speed automatic gearbox, many get the 4MATIC 4WD option and you’ll be able to have an AMG Line version for added go faster bits even on the lowly petrols and diesels.
Unsurprisingly – as the roof needs to stow – there’s less boot space than the coupe, but at 360 litres it’s a chunk better than the BMW 4 Series Cabriolet, there’s plenty of tech including autonomous emergency braking and collision warning, and the option of more including lane keep assist, adaptive cruise and parking assistance.
The 2016 Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet will be in Mercedes’ UK dealers in the summer, with prices a few grand more than the C-Class Coupe (which starts at £31k).
