2017 Hyundai i30 teased before a public debut on Hyundai’s stand at the Paris Motor Show

The ‘New Generation’ Hyundai i30 is teased ahead of a debut at the Paris Motor Show in September and looks set to get a Hybrid option.

The last time we talked about a new Hyundai i30 was back in 2011, and the arrival of that i30 was, perhaps, the point at which Hyundai properly went from ‘improving budget car maker’ to a fully-fledged mainstream player.

That 2011 i30 garnered headlines about its exemplary build quality thanks to then VW boss Martin Winterkorn trying, and failing, to find anything that rattled on the i30 on a visit to Hyundai’s stand at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

Now, five years on, another new Hyundai i30 is on the way, and although Hyundai are unlikely to be fortunate enough to get the head of the world’s most successful mainstream car maker (well, if you ignore their recent local difficulties) to big it up again, it does look set to take the i30 another significant step forward.

The tease photos for this i30 (above and below) show a car that seems to have acquired some of its design from the new Hyundai Ioniq at the front, and the i20 at the back. And it looks pretty good.

We’ve not seen the interior yet, but judging from the interiors of the latest Tuson we reviewed recently it will no doubt move up a notch in quality, but perhaps not in flair, and it seems likely there will be the option of at least one of the Ioniq’s hybrid powertrains.

The New Generation i30 is a car for everybody. From a design perspective, we haven’t just considered one customer; we have focused on a wide range of different people.

This model showcases an evolution of Hyundai Motor’s design language with natural flowing lines, refined surfaces and a sculpted body to create a timeless appearance. We are also introducing our further developed grille: the Cascading grille.

The new Hyundai i30 will debut on 7 September ahead of a public debut at the Paris Motor Show.
