2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe teased
The new 2017 Mercedes E-Class Coupe is teased on video ahead of an official reveal on 14 December, prior to a public debut at the Detroit Motor Show.
But this is the digital age of car reveals, so today we get a video tease of the new E-Class Coupe (followed, probably, by a few more in the next few days), before an on-line reveal on Wednesday (14 December) and a public debut at Detroit in January.
The 2017 E-Class Coupe is the third in the E-Class range to be revealed (we’ve had the saloon and the new E-Class Estate) – and there’s still the E-Class Cabriolet waiting in the wings to complete the line-up (probably arriving at the Geneva Motor Show).
Essentially, to no one’s great surprise, the new E-Class Coupe looks like a bigger take on the more compact C-Class Coupe, and a smaller take on the S-Class Coupe. Although it’s arguable that, despite Mercedes’ current Russian Doll approach to model segmentation, the E-Class Coupe is perhaps the most appealing in size and proportion.
Just as you’ll find in the E-Class saloon, expect everything – in time – under the bonnet from a 2.0 litre petrol E200 with 181bhp by way of an E400 Coupe with 328bhp all the way up to an E63 AMG with 575bhp (and perhaps more) from its 4.0 litre V8. Oh, and the usual array of oil burners too.
No doubt we’ll get more on the 2017 E-Class Coupe in the next few days, but expect full official details arriving on Wednesday.
