2017 Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer
The new Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer follows on the heels of the new Insignia Tourer with raised ride height and black plastic cladding for added butch.
An estate car with any hope of credibility these days seems to need to add an ‘Allroad’ version to its range complete with a raised ride height, four-wheel drive and black plastic cladding to make it look capable of tackling the rough stuff.Step forward the new 2017 Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer.
Following on the heels of the Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer which arrived at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, Vauxhall has rolled out the replacement for 2013’s Insignia Country Tourer and, just like that car, it’s the Insignia estate with added butch.
As you’d expect, the Country Tourer gets a raised ride height – up by 20mm – for extra ground clearance on dirt roads, as well as all-wheel drive with torque vectoring and new five-link rear suspension, offering more control with electronically controlled multi-plate clutches instead of a traditional rear diff.
Vauxhall are being a bit vague about engine options, but they do say the Country Tourer will come with a broad range of engine options, including a new top of the range diesel.
But despite revealing the Insignia Country Tourer now, Vauxhall aren’t giving it a proper debut until the Frankfurt Motor Show, which is almost six months away.
By then, we’ll probably know exactly what engine options will be on offer, and how close to £30k the starting point is.
