2019 Range Rover Evoque debut previewed with wire sculptures
The 2019 Range Rover Evoque debuts on 22 November, ahead of which Land Rover are previewing the arrival with wire sculptures of the new Evoque in London.
It’s eight years since the Range Rover Evoque arrived as a cut-price Range Rover and almost single handedly transformed the fortunes of Land Rover, selling more than 750,000 in the intervening years. But Evoque sales, which for years seemed immune to market forces as it aged, have started to slip, with sales in 2018 down by around a third on 2017. But Land Rover has the answer – the 2019 Range Rover Evoque.
Due to be revealed in London on 22 November, Land Rover has been busy planting wire sculptures of the new Evoque at Locations in Kensington and Chelsea to trumpet its imminent arrival, although if they’re an indication of what’s to come this will be very much an evolutionary take on the Evoque’s design.
It’s expected the new Evoque will grow a bit, although without getting a new platform, and that it will be able to support a hybrid version or two as well as the current range of diesel and petrol engines.
Gerry McGovern, Land Rover’s Designer, said:
The wire forms have been created to preview the new Evoque – which is the embodiment of Range Rover’s modernist design approach. Where better to put these bespoke installations on display than in the heart of London – one of the greatest cities in the world.
Land Rover say the new Evoque will go on sale as soon as it’s revealed on 22 November.
