The Lexus IS F-Sport 2010

Lexus has added the IS F-Sport models to the IS range for 2010, and some very modest tweaks to the remainder of the IS models.

Lexus is having a play with its IS for 2010. But best not to get too excited – the changes are not immense, although the introduction of the 2010 Lexus IS F-Sport does add a couple of nice cosmetic bits to the mix.

Biggest news is the addition of the F-Sport model, which fits in between the IS SE-I and IS SE-L Models. Confused? Just think of it as a Lexus IS with a couple of bits from the IS F added and a spec a notch up from the SE-I. Clear as mud? Thought so. Let’s spell it out.

The Lexus IS F-Sport comes as either the IS 220d F-Sport or the IS 250 F-Sport automatic. It gets 18″ alloys, IS F front grill and lowered suspension – but the lowered suspension is only on the IS 250 F-Sport. Inside you get all black leather/Alcantara sports and seats with grey stitching. You get aluminium pedals and a sports steering wheel and gear knob. You also get a few extra toys such as auto wipers, HID headlights and memory seats/mirrors. Which I suppose makes it easier for buyers than the Lexus IS Convertible with F-Sport options.

The rest of the range gets an upgraded HDD SatNav system with touch screen and 40gb HDD. It’s an option on the SE and SE-I models as part of package that also includes a rear park assist and on F-Sport and SE-L versions of  it’s part of the  Multimedia Package, which gives you a a 14-speaker Mark Levinson Premium Surround Sound System and the rear park assist.

Other tweaks are bigger wheels for the SE (now 17″) and the IS 250 now manages to be a not exactly significant 1% more fuel efficient.

As we said, not exactly huge changes, but the IS F-Sport is a decent addition and gives a nice visual edge.
