With no new cars at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari highlights are the carbon fibre tub for the F70 & panoramic roof for the Ferrari FF.

As you would expect, the underpinnings for the new F70 aren’t going to be made from recycled RSJs, but will be crafted from state of the art carbon fibre.
Ferrari are proclaiming the tub and chassis of the F70 is directly derived – and developed in conjunction with – Ferrari Scuderia F1 nous and expertise.
Instead of using the normal Resin Transfer Moulding process for the carbon fibre structure, Ferrari is using four different types of carbon fibre which gets hand laminated then cured in autoclaves with the main structure made from T800 carbon with T800UD carbon fibre tape used for reinforcement (no, we don’t know either).
The result of all this carbon fibre goodness is a new Ferrari F70 (or whatever Marenello chooses – perhaps they will revive the ‘Dino’ badge to keep it ‘nella famiglia’?) which is 20 per cent lighter and 27 per cent stiffer than the Enzo.
Other Ferrari news from Paris 2012 includes the arrival of a Panoramic Roof roof for the Ferrari FF with special reflective glass that gives a much airier cabin without additional heat and noise issues.
Also on view was the Ferrari F12 with its 740hp V12 togetehr with coupe and Spider versions of the 458 and the new California 30 with its ’30’ statements – 30 more horses and 30 less kilos – and some Ferrari F1 goodness too.
But with no new models there was no real glory for Ferrari in Paris. We had hoped there might be a Scuderia version of the 458 to compensate in part for the lack of a debut by the new F70, but it was not to be.
Still, Los Angeles in November seems the most likely debut for the Ferrari F70, which has to arrive this year because Luca di Montezemolo said so.
