Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo on the move (video)

As a clear sign that the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is heading for production, we have a new video of the Sport Turismo in detail.

Just last week we had new that Porsche are not only likely to be building a spiritual successor to the 928 in the guise of a Panamera Coupe, but that the stunning Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo from the 2012 Paris Motor Show is also likely to make production sometime after Porsche facelifts the Panamera next year.

That view is reinforced with the arrival from Porsche of video of the Panamera Sport Turismo on the move and input from a pair of talking heads – Advanced Design Style man Mitja Borkert and Michael Mauer, head of the Porsche Design Studio – giving us an insight in to the thinking behind the Sport Turismo.

‘Good design is important, because everyone loves beautiful things’, says Mitja Borkert, although some would say that function has been more important than form for Porsche in the past. But the Sport Turismo – despite using all Porsche’s design cues, and based on the Panamera – becomes an object of visual lust with the Shooting Brake back end.

We get to see not just the Sport Turismo on the move, but a glimpse of new Porsche instrumentation featuring some very cutting-edge screens for the instruments and the centrally mounted infotainment screen.

Porsche also bigs-up the powertrain of the Grand Turismo, with its 335pS supercharged V6 coupled to a 95PS electric motor, good for decent performance and up to 20 miles electric-only range.

The sooner Porsche build the Panamera Sport Turismo, the better.
