The Geneva Motor Show in March saw the arrival of the first production version of the new McLaren P1 (and its arch-rival, the LaFerrari).
In between the reveal at Geneva and production starting, McLaren have been having a bash at the Nurburgring (with mixed results) and doing some final hot weather testing on the P1, but now – apart from a few inevitable tweaks once the P1 gets out in to the real world – the P1 is ready for its customers.
Those customers will have forked out £866,000 – plus any extra biots they want -0 for the privilege of owning perhaps the most able supercar ever made.
With a total of 903bhp from its 3.8 litre turbo V8 and electric motor, the P1 promises to be a startlingly quick car, and with first customer cars now about to arrive it shouldn’t be too long until we start to find out just how quick it is, but more importantly how quick it is round a track.
Can it smash the Top Gear lap time and can it get round the Nurburgring in under 7 minutes (like the Porsche 918)?
