The new McLaren P1 has been revealed publicly for the first time at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show where it goes up against LaFerrari.

In contrast, McLaren has been busy trailing the P1 for months and had revealed all we really wanted to know ahead of today at Geneva. That garnered more column inches for the McLaren than the Ferrari in the run-up to Geneva but it’s meant that the actual public reveal of the McLaren P1 has been totally overshadowed today by the reveal of LaFerrari.
That doesn’t mean LaFerrari is the better car, it just means that we’ll have to wait until the dust actually settles and we can look at both the P1 and LaFerrari more closely to properly judge the star. And even then it’s going to be quite a subjective judgement.
But the McLaren P1 has been revealed at Geneva – in the same Volcano Yellow as the production P1 photos we saw last week – complete with its 3.8 litre turbo V8 delivering, in conjunction with its electric help, 903bhp, a 0-62mph in under 3 seconds and 186mph in under 17 seconds.
McLaren will build just 375 P1s, each costing £866,000, both numbers lower than LaFerrari.
So which is it to be? McLaren P1 or LaFerrari?

Sara James says
I’ll take on of each please!
Dave Price says
There can be no real judging on the relative merits of the P1 and LaFerrari until we see what they can do. But on the looks side it’s the Ferrari for me.
Oblivious says
The McLaren P1 appeals to the inner geek but LaFerrari appeals to the soul.
And it probably won’t matter to the owners (who probably buy both) but if the P1 costs anything like the F1 to service then anyone with half a brain will buy the Ferrari.
