The Audi Quattro driven by DCI Gene Hunt in Ashes to Ashes – probably the most iconic ‘TV Car’ in recent times – is up for auction for BBC Children in Need.

There have been lots of iconic cars on UK TV over the years that have resonated with petrolheads – like Steed’s Jaguar XJC from the Avengers or The Saint’s Volvo P1800 – but probably the most loved from recent times is the Audi Quattro from Ashes to Ashes, driven by old-school DCI Gene Hunt – Fire up the Quattro!
The 1983 Audi quattro is a 1983 model with a two-valve-per-cylinder version of Audi’s five-cylinder petrol, and Audi has taken care to make sure it’s in tip-top condition with a major restoration ahead of the auction.
To add value, Phil Glenister – who played DCI Gene Hunt – has scrawled his moniker under the bonnet and added the ‘Fire up the Quattro’ catchphrase for good measure. What more could you want?!
The auction of the Audi quattro comes as BBC Children in Need celebrates 34 years, coincidentally exactly the same age as the iconic quattro which made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 1980.
If you want a chance to bid for the quattro, jump over to the eBay page for the Gene Hunt quattro auction (it’s currently at just £7200 – but there are nearly 10 days to go).
Good luck!
