The Jaguar XF has won Germany’s Golden Steering Wheel as Best Saloon, and the new Jaguar F-Pace has grabbed second place in the Large SUV category.
The Jaguar XF is, and always has been, a better car than many think, with its unique blend of talents arguably besting those of the German dominated sector. It’s an argument often ascribed to a certain breed of xenophobe (buyer or reviewer) who would declare the argument on principle, and although that exists the XF, especially since it’s recent refresh, really is very appealing.
And in case any prospective buyer needed proof that it’s not only the British who argue the XF is the best in sector, Jaguar are delighted to tell us that the XF has just been awarded the Golden Steering Wheel as the best car in its sector. And the Golden Steering Wheel Awards are the most prestigious awards in…Germany.
Yes, the Germans think the XF is better than the Mercedes E-Class and even the new Volvo S90. Which is quite the accolade.
But it’s not just the latest XF that’s floating Germany’s boat, they rather like the new Jaguar F-Pace too, voting it in to second place in the Large SUV category, behind the new Tesla Model X.
Ralph Speth, JLR CEO, said:
Winning this prestigious Golden Steering Wheel award in the most demanding automotive market and the toughest premium segment in the world, means a lot to Jaguar Land Rover.
The Golden Steering wheel confirms all the efforts of the Jaguar Land Rover team in delivering special, solid products with distinct character that excite the senses.
Let’s hope the Germans love of the XF and F-Pace translates in to markedly higher sales for Jaguar in the back yards of BMW, Mercedes and Audi.
