Max Verstappen drives the new Aston Martin Vantage at Rockingham
The new Aston Martin Vantage has been out for a blat round the track at Rockingham in the hands of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, ahead of its debut next week.
Aston Martin has been busy teasing the new Vantage for a long time (especially if you include the DB10’s appearance with Bond), but it’s arrival is now just a few days away. The tease proper really started with some ‘Official’ Spt photos of the new Vantage back in the summer when it became clear there would be plenty of DB10 influences, and now we get what is probably the last tease.
With their close relationship with Red Bull, Aston has enlisted the help of F1 wunderkind Max Verstappen to demonstrate that the new Vantage is playful, powerful and appealing, putting in him the Vantage for a blat at Rockingham.
Verstappen certainly seems at home at Rockingham, and he gives the new Vantage a proper workout, with Aston Martin’s chief dynamics engineer, Matt Becker, riding alongside.
So far, AML has been a little coy about what’s under the bonnet of the new Vantage, and we’ve assumed it will be the same new AMG V8 under the bonnet of the DB11. And that appears to be confirmed here.
As Max is busy blatting the Vantage, Matt Becker gives him a bit of a heads-up on what he’s driving, including telling him it has just over 500bhp and 500lb/ft of torque, and weighs 200kg less than the DB11 V12. Which must be the DB11’s AMG V8. Mustn’t it?
All will be revealed on Tuesday 21 November when the new Aston Martin Vantage debuts.
