New Lexus UX Compact SUV REVEALED
The Lexus UX – a new compact Urban SUV from Lexus – is revealed in production guise ahead of its public debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show.
A week or so ago we had the first tease photo of the new Lexus UX compact SUV as Lexus geared up to reveal it at the Geneva Motor Show. But with a bit more than a week to go until the UX hits the floor in Geneva, Lexus has decided to stop messing about with shadowy photos and deliver a proper photo of the new UX, and a bit of a video too.
What the first official photo of the UX shows is a compact Urban SUV from Lexus looking just how you’d expect it to look.
Yes, the production UX is toned down from the Concept US, but the big spindle grill still dominates the front end, there are aggressive haunches and wings and squared wheel arches and the UX looks properly premium and appealing.
Clearly aimed at a younger demographic than the bigger NX and RX SUVs, the UX does still look Lexus enough to appeal to downsizers, and the brief look we get of the interior in the UX video (below) suggests the cabin is to Lexus good standards.
Likely to be offered as the UX 250h hybrid (perhaps the new Toyota 2.0 litre hybrid and new CVT?) and a petrol alternative or two, Lexus say the UX is underpinned by an all-new platform and will have the dynamics of a hatchback.
We expected it to be underpinned by the Toyota C-HR, but maybe Lexus has done something different. We’ll find out soon enough.
