Jaguar F-Pace SVR Struts its stuff on video
The new Jaguar F-Pace SVR – Jaguar’s performance take on the F-Pace SVR – has just been revealed in New York, and now we have the F-Pace SVR strutting its stuff on video.
There is a school of thought that says Jaguar shouldn’t be messing around with SUVs – that’s Land Rover’s bag – but should be concentrating on beautiful sports cars and sports saloons with Grace, Space and Pace. But Jaguar has had to bow to the inevitable to even start to make inroads in to the much bigger sales enjoyed by Land Rover, and so it delivered the F-Pace which, it has to be acknowledged, has been a real success for the Big Cat.
Not only has Jaguar delivered the F-Pace, but it’s also delivered a new little brother – the Jaguar E-Pace – and pulled off something of a masterstroke by delivering the Jaguar I-Pace as the first electric SUV from a premium mainstream car maker.
So the future of Jaguar now seems to be SUVs but, just as it is for Porsche, we hope Jaguar’s success with SUVs will mean more money to deliver the cars Jaguar should be delivering.
But even if the future for Jaguars is SUVs, it doesn’t mean they have to be electric SUVs like the I-Pace, because there’s plenty of life yet in high performance ICE SUVs, and the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR looks to have combined performance with practicality in an appealing, if quite pricey, package.
Offering 542bhp from its Supercharged V8, the F-Pace SVR can get to 62mph in 4.3 seconds and on to 176mph, and comes with a relatively subtle SVR makeover to deliver a car which really is following in the footsteps of Porsche and its performance SUVs.
At £75,000 the F-Pace SVR isn’t cheap, but it is impressive. And this new video from Jaguar highlights the appeal of the SVR in a way mere photos don’t.
We want one.
