The Aston Martin DB11 AMR has been revealed as Aston’s new range-topping DB11, with more power, improved performance and a bigger price – the DB11 AMR starts at £174,995.
It’s just two years since the new Aston Martin DB11 arrived to replace the DB9, and now it too is being replaced by a more powerful version – the new Aston Martin DB11 AMR.It seems the DB11 AMR isn’t just a new more performance focussed DB11, but is now the V12 DB11, replacing the current model with one which promises more performance and more power but isn’t a real hardcore Aston – that will be the job of the DBS Superleggera later this year – but is an even more appealing GT. For which you can probably thank not just customer feedback but the arrival of the new Bentley Continental GT.
Power from Aston’s 5.2 litre turbo V12 goes up by 30bhp to 630bhp, enough to drop the 0-62mph time to 3.7 seconds and increase top speed to 208mph.
But it seems Aston hasn’t just endowed the AMR with more power, it’s also promised that tweaks to the chassis, gearbox and exhaust will deliver a tighter driving experience without upsetting the ride. Which sounds good.
Aston has also wrought sufficient cosmetic tweaks to make the current V12 DB11 look like yesterday’s car, with all the shiny bits on the outside replaced with carbon fibre or gloss black, smoky lights and tail pipes.
You can, if you’ve had a taste bypass, opt for one of the £202k Special Edition models complete with luminous green livery highlight inside and out, but if you prefer a more subtle DB11 AMR then the price starts at £174,995, a chunky £127k jump on the outgoing V12 and £30k more than the DB11 V8.
You can now order the new Aston Martin DB11 AMR from Aston’s UK dealers, with first customer cars due before the end of June.
