Nissan ProPILOT takes the strain out of driving
Nissan has been busy surveying UK drivers and has declared a big chunk of us find driving really rather scary at times. The solution, say Nissan, is Nissan ProPILOT.
Ahead of the August Bank Holiday, when we all take to the road like sheep heading for somewhere with sand and sea, Nissan has decided to declare that a big chunk of us are scared, nervous and uneasy behind the wheel a lot of the time. Just what you need to know ahead of the 300-mile drive with kids in the back asking “When will we be there?”.According to Nissan’s survey, 39 per cent of all drivers admit to being less than confident behind the wheel at times, with 27 per cent scared of parking and 21 per cent scared of motorways.
Londoners are the least confident motorway drivers (probably because they don’t normally travel at more than 3 mph), with being hemmed in the biggest fear (55 per cent), but other stuff like slip roads, overtaking lorries, lane changes and speed also causing the heebie-jeebies.
Of course, Nissan has commissioned the survey as a public service, but, entirely coincidentally, they just happen to have a way to soothe driving anxieties – Nissan ProPILOT.
Alex Smith, Nissan GB MD, said:
As we head towards a busy weekend for the UK’s motorway network, it’s concerning that many motorists feel they lack confidence in the everyday aspects of multi-lane driving. Modern vehicle technologies, such as those developed under Nissan Intelligent Mobility, can play a key role in supporting a positive driver experience. It’s encouraging that a large proportion of drivers recognise the impact these can have on their confidence at the wheel.
Available on both the Qashqai and LEAF, Nissan ProPILOT is a suite of assistance technologies which works on motorways and around town to maintain speed, brake when the traffic around does, sets off again (within three seconds) and make you feel more in control.
What a stroke of luck Nissan worked out they could answer the issues raised in their survey of UK drivers.
