Is the New Toyota Corolla for the UK and Europe heading down the high-riding ‘Corolla Cross’ route?
The Toyota Auris in the UK and Europe is about to be re-badged Toyota Corolla, and Toyota look to be planning a high-riding Corolla Cross to join the fray.
We’re not entirely sure how long Toyota has been planning to drop the Auris badge in the UK and Europe and replace it with the Corolla badge. But it’s happening. We’re guessing the decision must have been made very recently, otherwise it would seem daft they revealed the new Auris at the Geneva Motor Show in the spring, a car that will now arrive in the UK in early 2019 as the new Toyota Corolla, not the Auris.
But it looks like Toyota has plans for the new Corolla beyond the Hatch and Estate it’s planning to reveal at the Paris Motor Show in October, with a new trademark application in Europe for ‘Corolla Cross’.
The application doesn’t mean Toyota are definitely going down the high-riding route for the new Corolla, but with a still burgeoning market for high-riding urban warriors, it makes a lot of sense.
It’s not difficult to work out that a Toyota Corolla Cross would come with a raised ride height, butch plastic cladding, bigger bumpers, skid plates and different alloys to make it in to a proper little urban warrior.
It’s hard to see why Toyota wouldn’t deliver a high-riding Corolla Cross. And we’re sure it would sell.

Who at Toyota UK – is in charge in deciding which Toyota brand is likely to sell like hot cakes in the UK? The Corolla Cross needs to come to UK as soon as yesterday!
