Ferrari 250 GTO Homage by Ares Design
Ares Design, run by former Lotus CEO Dany Bahar, is creating a Ferrari 250 GTO ‘Homage’ car for a client, with plans to build up to ten ‘new’ 250 GTOs.
Surprisingly, Dany Bahar’s failure at Lotus is starting to recede as his latest project – Ares Design – looks to be doing interesting things which, this time round, are reality, not fantasy. We’ve recently seen a De Tomaso recration (based on the Lamborghini Huracan) and a Tesla Model S Convertible and Shooting Brake from Ares, both of which look credible and appealing (if your pockets are deep enough). And now we are set to get a Ferrari 250 GTO.
Yes, Bahar is playing games with perhaps the most famous, and most valuable, road car ever made by building a ‘Homage’ to the original 1960s GTO for a client, with plans to sell up to 10 if all goes to plan.
Ares Design’s Ferrari 250 GTO is underpinned by either a Ferrari F12 or 812 Superfast to deliver a skeleton for the Ares clothing and a delicious 789bhp Ferrari V12, according to Robb Report.
Ares are still going through the design process with their client, but what they have so far (above and below) looks pretty good. If all goes to plan the first 250 GTO will be delivered next year and Ares will then offer further cars costing from under £1 million. Including the donor car.
Of course, there is a chance the Ferrari GTO will return for real in the next couple of years after Sergio Marchionne dropped heavy hints before his death that a ‘Continuation’ 250 GTO series run is on the cards.
Although that plan could have gone with Marchionne’s passing.
