Pininfarina Battista: Electric Hypercar named
Pininfarina has announced that their 1900bhp electric hypercar, with Rimac electric power, will be named the Pininfarina Battista after the Pininfarina founder.
It’s three years since Mahindra and Mahindra gobbled up Pininfarina, and the fruits of the promise that injection of funds made started to become clear earlier this year when Automobili Pininfarina was launched to create their own cars, and the first news of the Pininfarina PF0 electric hypercar.Until now, we’ve known Pininfarina’s electric hypercar by its project name – PF0 – but now we know it’s going to be the Pininfarina Battista, named in honour of founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.
Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman Pininfarina SpA, said:
This is genuinely a dream come true. My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina -branded cars. This hypercar will boast world -beating performance, technological innovation and of course elegant styling. For me, we simply had to call it Battista. His dream becomes reality today as we link our glorious past with the future of motoring.
Pininfarina are trumpeting the Battista as the first fully electric luxury hypercar and the most powerful Italian performance car ever, and with 1900bhp of Rimac electric knowhow lurking under the skin the promise is for an electric hypercar which will hit 62mph in under 2.0 seconds, hit 250mph and have a range of 300 miles. And, as it’s a Pininfarina, it should look glorious.
Just 150 Pininfarina Battsista models are being built – with 50 each allocated to Europe, the USA and Middle East – with prices starting at around £2 million.
