2019 Lexus RC F and RC F Track Edition
The 2019 Lexus RC F gets a Detroit reveal with cosmetic tweaks and a bit less power, and the RC F Track Edition arrives as a more hardcore alternative.
You’ve got to love the Lexus RC F for its naturally aspirated V8 – a sadly dying breed – and looks which are very appealing. And now it’s just got more interesting with the arrival of the 2019 RC F, and a new hardcore sibling too – the new Lexus RC F Track edition.Lexus has give the RC F a bit of a makeover for 2019, and although the cosmetic tweaks aren’t immense, there’s a lot going on to make Lexus’s take on the BMW M4 more appealing.
Lexus is on a bit of a mission to reduce the RC F’s weight, so there’s new hollow half-shafts, more aluminium bits and a smaller air conditioning compressor, with stiffer bushings and more rigid engine mounts for more feel, as well as…less performance.
WLTP tweaks sees the increasingly rare naturally aspirated 5.0 litre V8 deliver 451bhp, but the final drive ratio tweaked for better off the line response.
The RC F now comes with launch control as standard, and some new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rubber promising reduced understeer and better lateral grip.
Cosmetic titivations for the regular RC F include headlights featuring stacked LEDs with integrated running lights, the spindle grille gets a lower lip extending across the bottom, and new tail lights sit in a re-shaped back bumper.
Lexus RC F Track Edition
If you want something more hardcore than the RC F, you will now be able to opt for the RC F Track Edition; it doesn’t get any more power than the new RC F, but its is a much more focused take on the RC F.
There’s a bit of an aero makeover including a new big carbon fibre back wing generating and extra 26kg of downforce, a composite chin spoiler and CFRP bonnet and roof, Brembo Ceramic Brakes and 19″ forged alloy BBS wheels, all adding up to a weight saving of up to 80kg.
The 2019 Lexus RC F and RC F Track Edition goes in to production in March, by which time Lexus will have worked out how much they’re going to cost.
