Skoda Octavia vRS Challenge
Skoda launch the Octavia vRS Challenge in the UK, a Skoda vRs in Hatch and Estate guises with extra equipment and chassis tweaks. Price from £30,085.
The Skoda Octavia vRS is already a pretty decent car – especially the Estate – but now there’s a new version with extra equipment and a bit of fettling – the new Skoda Octavia vRS Challenge.Sitting at the top of the Octavia range, the new vRS Challenge comes with a set of 19″ black alloys, LED headlights, folding mirrors, sports exhaust with black tips and black vRS badges.
Inside gets a leather sports steering wheel, ambient lighting, WiFi, keyless, powered Alcantara vRS sports seats with heating in the front, lap timer and an 8″ infotainment screen with Amundsen Nav.
But Skoda hasn’t stopped at just adding kit and goodies, there’s also a set of electronically controlled dampers and an electronically controlled limited slip diff promising more ability to use the power on offer.
Despite the suspension tweaks Skoda hasn’t given the Octavia vRS Challenge any more power, but it still has 242bhp from its 2.0 litre TSI engine – enough for 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds – and a standard six-speed manual ‘box. But you can opt for a seven-speed DSG if you wish.
Skoda say the extra equipment on the Challenge would cost you £4,535 if you added it to the already well-equipped Octavia vRSs, but at £30,085 for the Hatch and £31,285 for the Estate, the vRS Challenge costs just 2,460 more.
