2019 BMW 3 Series goes on sale in the UK
The new BMW 3 Series – revealed in Paris in October – goes on sale in the UK with prices starting at £32,220 for the new BMW 320i.
BMW revealed a new 3 Series at the Paris Motor Show last year, and although it still looks like a BMW 3 Series, it’s really quite different.Under the still familiar skin, the new 3 Series sits on the same CLAR platform as the 5 Series, is wider and longer than the model it replaces, but conspires to be lighter despite that, has a wider track, more rigid body and stiffer suspension.
Inside, it’s a simpler – but classier – look with BMW’s latest iDrive getting a matching 12.3″ digital dash, with buttons round the screen and gear lever.
Now the new 3 Series is on sale in the UK with a choice of four engines – two petrol and two diesel – with the 320i (from £32,220) getting a 182bhp 2.0 litre petrol, the 330i (from £37,660) using a 255bhp version of the same engine, the 318d (from £32,450) with a 148bhp diesel and the 320d (from £33,610) with 187nhp.
There’s a four-wheel drive option in the 320d xDrive and the promise of a 33d (from £39,630) with a 263bhp 3.0 litre diesel later in the year and, eventually, the new 330e plug-in hybrid. There will also be M40i and M40d models and, in 2020, the new M3.
The UK gets a choice of three trim levels for the new 3 Series – SE, Sport and M Sport – all coming with Adaptive LED headlights, Climate, Alloys and a reversing camera, with the Sport models getting 18″ alloys, LED fogs, heated front seats and a gloss black finish for the grille and air intakes.
The M Sport models – likely to be the most popular in the UK – get more butch bumpers, sports seats and BMW Pro Nav with the 12.3″ digital instruments and 10.3″ infotainment.
The new BMW 3 Series is now on sale at BMW’s UK dealers.
